CNC Machined components

We frequently use machined components in our day-to-day life. In fact, we depend on them. In industries such as aerospace, automation, and manufacturing, CNC machining is commonly used due to its seamless nature, rapid production, and ability to produce machined components quickly.

The design of machine components ranges from simple to intricate and is used as anything from spare parts to tooling surfaces. To manufacture custom-machined components, it is necessary to manufacture them accurately, cost-friendly, and durable. The quality of CNC machined components depends on a variety of factors, some of which are within the manufacturer’s control. When manufacturing CNC machined components, it is essential to consider a few prime factors and their impact on the process.

The purpose of this blog post is to give a brief overview of several factors that should be taken into consideration when producing and selecting CNC Machined Components.

Material selection

There are many types of metals, but some are more expensive than others while having varying degrees of machinability, where the higher the machinability is, the higher the price is. When it comes to CNC-machined components, choosing the right material is critical.

To choose the most suitable material for CNC machined components, you have to consider the following point:

  • Identify the materials needed: If you want to choose the right material for your project, you should consider its functionality, electrical properties, its strength, and its hardness. It is also important to consider the operating environment of the area will be working in and the conditions it will be exposed to.
  • Determine potential materials: Make a list of all the materials that would be suitable for your design and sort them according to the specifications.
  • Choose the right material: Choose the material that meets most of all your requirements. Your product’s success or failure depends on the material you choose for CNC machined components. So, the right material for any type of machined component is crucial. Otherwise, project costs can be excessive as well as component functionality can be compromised. The most commonly used materials for CNC machined components projects include aluminium, brass, carbon steel, copper alloys, stainless steel, and many others.

Quality of components

In manufacturing, quality systems play a key role. It is essential to ensure the quality of CNC machined components, especially if they are used in applications that require a high level of reliability. You can implement effective quality control systems throughout the entire CNC machined component manufacturing process in order to test, improve, and maintain the quality of CNC machined components. It is essential that the processes of the materials are inspected, and the final product meets all the specifications.

A CNC components manufacturer must consider all factors to ensure that components meet the required quality standards. Some of these factors include product design, tool selection, manufacturer expertise, quality control, and many more.

Part tolerances

This refers to the accuracy required when determining the dimensions of a prototype. If the finished products have very tight dimensional restrictions, extensive machining is involved. Prototypes can be scaled down to one-hundredths or even one-thousandths of an inch, requiring smaller probes and drill bits. This consumes more energy as CNC machines have to work continuously with high precision.

As a CNC machined components manufacturer, qualified hardware can produce components with very tight tolerances. Normally the tolerance is +/-0.05mm, but if the customer requests 0.01mm, we can do it.

Additional treatments and finishing processes

If a particular product requires special finishing treatment, production costs inevitably will be increased. These processes may include heat and cold treatment, anodization, surface coating, surface finishing, rust protection, and galvanizing. Galvanizing is a process by which the corrosion resistance of CNC machined components can be increased because, in this process, zinc is deposited on the surface of the CNC machined metal through electrolysis. This electrolytic process gives the metal excellent corrosion resistance, as the deposited zinc coating protects the CNC machined components from rust when it has marine or household applications.

These processes are only included if the customer requires the product to be glazed, heat-treated, or galvanized. This also incurs additional costs. Therefore, these processes are optional and not available at every CNC machining plant.

Have multiple applications

Precision CNC machining allows even complex designs to be crafted into custom-machined components. Furthermore, components are meticulously crafted, regardless of whether they are made of metal, wood, or plastic.

Using a program, the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine creates tools and customized parts. As the aerospace and aeronautics sector deals with highly sensitive components, this level of accuracy and precision is essential. When the prototype has been drafted, the CNC machine gives the exact dimensions, while the original prototype has discrepancies.

Surface Finishing

Surface treatment processes are essential to improve the reliability and durability of CNC machined components. These processes give CNC machined components a more polished finish. CNC component manufacturers typically offer a number of surface finishing options to add value and improve performance. Surface finishing options include anodizing, brushing, electroplating, etc, or you can customize it as required.

When you are looking for CNC machined components for your manufacturing needs, you can simplify your experience by enabling faster assembly, which saves you time and money.

There’s no doubt that machined components play a crucial role in our daily lives and in most of the industrial sectors. There are several industries, including medical, electrical, electronic, and automobile, where end products are assembled from several machined components. It takes expertise, dedication, and advanced technology to manufacture these components. Teron Metal Components is manufacturing and meeting all your requirements at a competitive price and on time.
